Experience Requirements
- With a bachelor’s degree, you will need an estimated 800 hours of work experience in nutrition before you can apply for state certification
- With a doctoral degree, the number of hours of work experience in nutrition you will need before applying for state certification is significantly lowered.
- Although permitted in only a few states, it is possible to become a nutritionist with just an associate’s degree in nutrition. However, with this degree, the person will also need about eight years of full-time experience working in nutrition before they can apply for state certification.
